Allie Lee Howell Dunham was born in Saint Stephens, Alabama on July 19, 1937 to Mable Harris Howell and Roosevelt Howell. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at and joined James Chapel Baptist Church (St. Stephens, AL) under the leadership of Rev. Alphoso Elliot. Later in life Allie joined of The Star of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church (Cleveland, OH) where she served on the Mother's Board.
Allie married Edd Dunham. Their union produced seven children, six sons and a daughter. Allie, her husband, first son and daughter moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1956.
Allie was employed by Woman's General Hospital for many years, starting as a laundry room worker before being promoted to a Housekeeping Supervisor. After Women's General closed, she joined the Cleveland Clinic as a Building Services Area Director. She remained with the Clinic until her retirement in 1997. Allie was a certified Executive Housekeeper receiving her certification from the University of Akron. She was an active member and officer of the local chapter of the National Executive Housekeepers Association.
Allie loved God, her family (especially her children and grandchildren) and friends of all ages. She was known for her wit, wisdom, humor and strong opinions. She enjoyed watching television game shows and sporting events. Allie was an excellent cook receiving multiple requests for her German chocolate and caramel cakes, sweet potato pie, candied yams and dressing.
Preceding her in death were her parents Mable Howell Glen (Woodie, dec.) and Roosevelt Howell; sons Edd Jr. (Ossie) Dunham and Ricky Dunham; siblings Theodore Howell (Patsy) , Mable Darby (Clarence, dec.) and Slater Howell (Frances); daughters-in-law Sylvia Dunham, LaRita Dunham, and Sandra Dunham; granddaughter Nicole Dunham; and special cousin Marie Phillips.
She leaves to cherish in her memory her children, daughter Allie M. Dunham; sons Johnny Dunham, Thomas Lee Dunham, Dennis Dunham and Dan Dunham; daughter-in-law Ossie Dunham; grandchildren Shamiko Roberson, Shawanna Williams, Corneilus Harmon, Erica Dunham, Ricky Jr. Coleman and Danielle "Babe" Dunham; step grandchildren Delmas Williams, Nigel Williams, Terry Harmon, Angie Coleman and Ramon Coleman; great grandchildren Antonio, Zhaire, Geneva, Dorian, Earllanna, Xavier, Kayla and Denise; great great grandchildren Caleb, Hezikiah, Kamayla and Zaylen; special sisters-in-law Lavell Dunham, Frances Howell and Patsy Howell; and long-time friend Annie Mann. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
