Darrell Pate Obituary

Darrell Edward Pate was born September 13, 1965 to the late Carlton Ulysses Pate and Ann Elizabeth Pate, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Darrell began his education at Mary McCloud Bethune Elementary School and then attended  Harry E. Davis Jr. High School.  He   Graduated from Glenville High School in 1984.

Darrell had a passion and was trained in martial arts from his younger years, until his young adulthood.  With Darrell's diligence, determination and practice in this craft, he obtained the skills to be awarded a brown belt in martial arts.

Additionally, Darrell played junior league football for 3 years, for the Pal 5 Team,  where he passionately played the positions of defensive end and a running back. Football never ended as he would often continue the game with his brother John and many neighborhood friends. The focus was always on catching Darrell, as they would say, “Catch him! Because he's too fast!” And before you knew it, the quarterback would be down. He continued his football career in middle school and at Glenville High School.

Darrell had a lifelong love of football and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan that couldn't wait for every season to begin and never missed a game.

After Darrell graduated from High School,  he was inspired by his mother, who was a Registered Nurse, to pursue a career in nursing. After his state of Ohio licensing he worked many years as a Nursing Assistant and loved taking care of others. Later,  he would follow in the footsteps of his father, Carlton Pate, in the field of  home improvement and renovations, a passion that his father taught his sons.

In 2001 his life changed, as he met his wife Michelle. Interestingly, Darrell met Michelle when she called his company to have some home renovations done. During that meeting, Michelle not only met Darrell but his father Carlton also. And Shelby Russell actually did the home improvements and his father Carlton actually did the ceiling plaster work. Soon after he began his career as Building Inspector for The City of Maple Heights.

Michelle and Darrell spent 23 years of loving the blessings of life, embracing the changes,  raising 4 daughters, watching our family grow to 10 grandchildren. They enjoyed the joys of traveling the world. Having traveled as far as Dubai, 7 vacations to Disney World, with the last trip there being in December of 2021,  throughout several cities in United States and Canada.

Darrell was preceeded in death by his Mother Ann Elizabeth Pate, and his father Carlton Ulysses Pate, his Eldest Brother, Carlton Dwight Pate, and Sister, Onetha Eyvonne Russell & (Shelby). To carry his love, memories and celebrate his life continues through his daughter, Brianne Gardner and granddaughter,  Sunday. His daughter,  Lauren Inman (Darnell), grandsons, Julian, Jayden and Madden and granddaughter Madison. His daughter Joscelyn Rodriguez (Josue),  grandson Javi and granddaughter Jaci Isabella.
